What is a hem tag?
These are the labels that you see in the bottom hem of a t-shirt, in the sleeve, on a Beanie etc.. These labels are wrapped around the hem or pocket or sleeve and sewn in place. It helps to re-enforces your brand and creates a lasting impact with your clients. It definitely underlines your brand.
What is a common size for a hem tag?
Popular size for hem tag is 1″ X 1″ (25.4mm X 25.4mm) square. (Open label is 1″ X 2″). Having said that, it is not a hard and fast rule and we can certainly adjust the size to suit your logo / text/project. We can make them in 0.8″, 1.25″, 1.5″ width or whatever your artwork calls for. If you are uncertain we can give you a couple of layout drawings and you can choose the one that works for you.
How to design a hem tag?
When you design your hem tag, these points might help you to make the right decision.
** You can have artwork on both sides of the label and that does not change the price. Repetitive artwork on both sides can be done too.
** It is better to have your artwork closer to the center fold THAN centerizing it as you get some extra room in the top for sewing.
** If you need the same label in different colors, there is a cost of $25 per color to split the order.

The two kinds of Hem tags:
We make hem tags in two different ways and you can choose the style you like. Both are equally good and it is just a matter of personal preference.
A. Center fold with complete damask
These labels have a center fold and the edges are heat sealed, to prevent fraying. You would wrap this label around the bottom hem of your t-shirt/beanie and top sew a tad below the top heat sealed part.
B. Manhattan fold
These labels have a top and bottom fold and a center fold as well. So you would wrap this label around the bottom hem of your t-shirt/beanie and top sew along the top folded part. Gives a neat finished look.
